Team Overview
General
Nepal returned to the Asian Games after a 32-year absence in 2018 in Indonesia. They did not progress to the knockout rounds at the 2018 Games following 3-0 defeats to Chinese Taipei and the Republic of Korea in Pool D, but secured classification round wins over Mongolia [3-1] and Kyrgyzstan [3-0] to ultimately place 15th out of 20 teams. They had previously made three appearances at the Asian Games between 1978 and 1986.
The Nepali team have not been regular participants at the Asian championship. After competing at the 1989 tournament, they did not feature at the next 16 Asian championships between 1991 and 2021. They appeared at the 2019 South Asian Games as hosts and lost their group matches to Bangladesh and India.
