Team Overview
General
Chinese Taipei first competed at the Asian Games in 1970. It would be 20 years before they returned to the Games, but they have appeared at every edition since 1990. They have one medal to their name - a bronze from the 2006 Games in Doha, where a semifinal loss to the People's Republic of China set up a bronze medal match against Thailand that they won 3-0.
At the 2018 Games, the Chinese Taipei team recorded wins over Vietnam and India but lost their other three Pool B matches to Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, and the Republic of Korea. They again defeated the Indian team in the classification round to finish ninth overall in Indonesia. In 2014 in Incheon, they were ranked fifth having been knocked out in the quarterfinals by Japan.
In other competitions, Chinese Taipei finished in sixth place at the 2019 Asian Championship after pool defeats to the Republic of Korea and Thailand saw them miss out on the semifinals. They have made two appearances at the world championship, in 1990 and 2006.
