Team Overview

General
Bangladesh come into the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou having placed sixth at the 2018 Asian Games. They recorded three group stage wins in Indonesia, overcoming Oman, Kazakhstan, and Thailand to finish third in their pool, despite losses to Malaysia and Pakistan. Their tournament ended in a 7-0 defeat to the Republic of Korea in the fifth-place match.

The team are making their eighth consecutive Asian Games appearance at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou. They debuted at the 1978 tournament in Bangkok and have featured at 10 editions of the Games in total.

Bangladesh finished fifth at the inaugural Asia Cup in 1982, and hosted the event in Dhaka in 1985 and 2017, placing sixth on both occasions. Drawn in Pool B at the 2022 Asia Cup in Jakarta, they lost to eventual champions the Republic of Korea [6-1] and eventual runners-up Malaysia [8-1]. A 2-1 win over Oman in their other group match was not enough to see them into the second round, and they finished sixth after beating Indonesia and losing to Pakistan in the classification rounds.

The team won bronze medals at the South Asian Games in 1995, 2010, and 2016.
