CZECH BASE
He began training in the Czech Republic while studying at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He has trained with Czech climber Adam Ondra while in the country. "Moving to the Czech Republic and training there was big for me. I did not expect that climbing would be so developed in the Czech Republic. Compared to Kazakhstan, the difference is huge. There are more climbing walls with more levels of difficulty. I was amazed how many people, not athletes, come in the evenings to climb and drink beer, having fun. Due to the fact that everything was new to me, and I was not integrated into life in the Czech Republic, I had to focus on bouldering for a while. I focused on strength training too, which helped me later in lead climbing. Once I got to know climbers in the Czech Republic, I was able to meet and climb with them. Having moved to the city [Brno] where the world champion [Ondra] lives, my father and I met him and discussed further joint training. For me, Adam Ondra is a great find. I learned a lot from him, not only in climbing, but also in nutrition, as well as in different ways of recovery. Since I am better at speed climbing, I shared my knowledge with him. Of course, we have different training programmes, but sometimes we train together, compete on the campus board. We became close, we worry and rejoice for each other."
