Team Overview

General
The Philippines' sole participation in the Asian Games rugby sevens competition came in 2014. A 59-0 thrashing of Pakistan proved enough to qualify the team for the quarterfinals in Incheon, where they were defeated 21-0 by eventual silver medallists Hong Kong, China. They bounced back to post classification round victories against Thailand and the People's Republic of China to secure a final ranking of fifth.

In the Asian Series, a third-place overall ranking in 2018 represents the Philippines' best performance since 2012. In the 2022 series the team finished in sixth place, with their standout performance coming in the second leg in the Republic of Korea. After losing in the semifinals to the Hong Kong, China team that won the overall competition, they secured third place with a 24-7 win over Sri Lanka.

The team has enjoyed more success at the South East Asian Games, winning gold medals in 2015 and 2019. They defeated Malaysia in both gold medal matches.

The Philippines have competed at one edition of the World Cup, in 2013. They lost group phase matches against Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Samoa before exiting the tournament following a 50-0 defeat to Japan in the quarterfinals of the bowl competition.
