Team Overview

General
Bangladesh made their Asian Games debut in the men's football tournament in 1978 in Bangkok. They went on to compete at the following three editions of the Games, winning two matches during that time. The team returned to the competition in 2002, but had to wait until 2014 for their third win at the Games when they defeated Afghanistan 1-0 in their opening match in Incheon.

In 2018 in Indonesia, Bangladesh made history by progressing to the knockout stage for the first time at the Asian Games. After losing their opening match 3-0 to Uzbekistan, the team posted a 1-1 draw with Thailand before securing progression via a 1-0 win against Qatar in their final group game. Bangladesh's historic run came to an end in the round of 16 where they lost 3-1 to DPR Korea.

Bangladesh have impressed at the South Asian Games, claiming gold in both 1999 and 2010, and more recently back-to-back bronze medals at the 2016 and 2019 editions of the tournament.
