Team Overview

General
Hong Kong, China have been bronze medallists at the past five editions of the Asian Games. They were knocked out at the semifinal stage four times by the People's Republic of China [2002, 2006, 2014, 2018] and once by Japan [2010]. The team defeated Kazakhstan in the third place match at the 2002 Games in Busan, and shared the bronze medal at the four editions of the Games between 2006 and 2018.

The Hong Kong, China team made their Olympic debut at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. They were again beaten by the Chinese team, this time in the quarterfinals, and recorded a defeat to the United States of America and victory over ROC in the classification round to finish in seventh place.

Hong Kong, China have competed at 21 editions of the world championships since 1993. The team achieved their first top-10 finish in 2022 in Cairo, where they were knocked out in the quarterfinals by the Republic of Korea. They also reached the last eight at the 2023 edition of the tournament in Milan, this time losing to Italy. At the Asian championships, the Hong Kong, China team have won 13 medals since 2003 without ever securing the title. They were runners-up in 2022 and 2023, losing to the Republic of Korea in the final on both occasions.
