Team Overview

General
Sri Lanka were bronze medallists at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. Having qualified directly for the knockout round, they beat Hong Kong, China by 82 runs in the quarterfinals before losing to Bangladesh by 25 runs in the last four. They then faced the People's Republic of China for third place on the podium and won by five wickets. The Sri Lankan team did not compete at the only other edition of the Asian Games to feature cricket, in 2010 in Guangzhou.

Sri Lanka competed at all eight editions of the Women's T20 World Cup between 2009 and 2023, but they are yet to reach the semifinals at the tournament. At the most recent edition in 2023 in South Africa, the Sri Lankans won two of their four matches in Group 1 and did not progress to the knockout stage.

Sri Lanka took part in the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup in 2012, 2016, 2018, and 2022. They reached the final for the first time in 2022 in Bangladesh after beating Pakistan by just one run in the semifinals, but fell short of a first Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup title following an eight-wicket defeat to India.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where women's cricket made its Commonwealth Games debut, Sri Lanka lost all three of their group stage matches and did not progress to the semifinals.
