Team Overview

General
India are making their Asian Games debut in women's cricket at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.

The Indian team appeared at all eight editions of the Women's T20 World Cup between 2009 and 2023. Their best performance at the tournament came in 2020, when they finished as runners-up in Australia after an 85-run defeat to the hosts in the final. At the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, they were again beaten by eventual champions Australia, this time in the semifinals.

India have been the dominant force at the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup. The team have won three of the four editions of the tournament since 2012, only missing out on the title in 2018 when they lost to Bangladesh in the final by three wickets. They won the 2022 tournament in Bangladesh with an eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where women's cricket made its Commonwealth Games debut, India claimed silver following a nine-run defeat to the Australian team in the gold medal match.
