Chinese Taipei competed in the men's team competition at all five editions of the Asian Games between 2002 and 2018. They came closest to a podium finish at Indonesia 2018, placing fourth behind the People's Republic of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
The Chinese Taipei team competed at the 1964 and 2020 editions of the Olympic Games, which both took place in Tokyo. They were ranked 17th in 1964, and finished in 10th place at the 2020 Games.
Chinese Taipei made their world championship debut in 1995. Their best performance at the tournament came in 2019 in Stuttgart, where they qualified for the final for the first time and secured qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games.
