EYES ON HANGZHOU
Having been affected by an ankle injury at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where he placed fourth in the daoshu and gunshu all-round event, he is targeting a medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China. "I wasn't in the best condition when I competed [in 2018]. As an athlete, what we aim and strive to do is to perform at our best condition at every competition. And after all the hard work put into [training], nobody will want to compete with an injury. This year [2023], training has been really good so far, and I'm taking more precautions than I did in 2018, so hopefully I'll be in much better condition. Back in 2018, I was mentally prepared to train, but my body wasn't. I pushed myself too hard physically, and I paid the price. The most important thing is that I listen to my body more. I'm making sure that I get enough rest and the right nutrition to keep myself in the best shape, both physically and mentally." (straitstimes, 05 Aug 2023)

COACHING
