SANCTION
In December 2018 the International Weightlifting Federation [IWF] announced that a sample he had provided at the 2012 Olympic Games in London had been retested and found to be positive for the prohibited substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone [oral turinabol]. In April 2019 the International Olympic Committee [IOC] referred the case to the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS ADD], which found that he had committed an anti-doping rule violation. As a result, the CAS ADD disqualified him from the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he had finished fourth in the 105kg category. The case was then referred back to the IWF for follow-up, and the IWF issued him with a two-year suspension. His period of ineligibility ended on 17 December 2020.
