Team Overview

General
The People's Republic of China have won gold on all six occasions that the women's 4x200m freestyle relay has been held at the Asian Games, a streak that stretches back to 1998.

The Chinese team claimed their first Olympic gold medal in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay at the 2020 edition in Tokyo. The third-fastest qualifiers for the final, the team upset favourites Australia to set a new world record in claiming top spot on the podium. The People's Republic of China had previously won back-to-back silver medals at the Olympic Games in 2004 and 2008.

The Chinese team have twice been world champions in the event. Both successes came in Rome, at the 1994 and 2009 championships. The team claimed their first medal at the world championships since 2017 when they finished third at the 2023 edition in Fukuoka, Japan.
