Team Overview

General
The Philippines have placed fourth at the last two editions of the Asian Games. They were knocked out of the tournament at the semifinal stage in both Incheon and Indonesia, losing 3-0 to the People's Republic of China in 2014 and falling to a 6-3 defeat against Chinese Taipei four years later.

The Philippines have seen success at other tournaments at continental level. They were runners-up at the 2017 Asian Championship in Taichung, losing 7-0 to Japan in the final, before ranking fourth at the 2019 and 2023 editions of the tournament in [losing the bronze medal game to Chinese Taipei on both occasions]. They have dominated the South East Asian Games in recent years, claiming all five gold medals on offer between 2005 and 2019.

Despite winning bronze at their first world championship in 1970, the Philippines have since failed to achieve a podium finish. They were ranked 14th of 16 teams at the 2018 World Championship in Chiba after winning two of their seven group matches and then losing to Great Britain in the placement round.
