His father bought him a shotgun so he would be able to use the best equipment. However, his father then encouraged him to pursue a different career as he was spending so much time shooting. Almudhaf told his father if he did not qualify for the 2000 Olympic Games, he would quit competing. When his father saw the resolve of Almudhaf, he changed his mind and told him to follow his dream.
