"Before every competition, I have to listen to calming music, and I typically don't eat meat on my competition days because it's easier to digest, as I'm in a very stable and still position for a very long time." (Singapore Sports School Facebook page, 15 Jun 2021)
:
"I love that my sport is mentally challenging, so even for someone like me who is only 1.5 metres tall and not the best in running or physical strength, I still can show my mental strength in other areas, like through shooting." (Singapore Sports School Facebook page, 15 Jun 2021)

Additional Information

General
SISTER ACT
Her younger sister Fernel Tan has also represented Singapore in shooting. "When there is a need to, we will be competitive, especially in competitions. It's our responsibility as athletes to do our best. We don't let go of our own abilities [just because they are sisters] but we also don't hate each other. Everyone thinks that our friends and family will compare and there's only one gold medallist but since we were young, our parents weren't like that. If she wins, it probably just means that she was better on the day and I probably have some stuff to improve on." (tnp, 22 May 2022)

PSYCHOLOGY
She has worked with a psychologist to help her deal with pressure and setbacks. "A low point in my career was probably in 2017 and 2018, where I didn't make three major competitions consecutively, missing out by 0.1 and 0.2 points. So, back then it was quite a big blow but slowly as I mature and grow, and as I seek help from my psychologist, I know how to deal with pressure and I know how to treat myself better." (Singapore Sports School Facebook page, 15 Jun 2021; straitstimes, 15 May 2021)
