He originally liked football and chess, but was encouraged to try shooting by his parents. "[At first] I did not have much interest. I left it within weeks. Standing in the same spot for so many hours was really boring. My mother got a call from my coach after four months, and he actually requested her to send me to play for the nationals. After playing the game again for two or three months and after winning a bronze at the nationals, I was completely motivated by my principals and my parents to continue the sport."
