Team Overview

General
The United Arab Emirates made their Asian Games debut in rugby sevens in 2018 in Indonesia. They lost all six of their matches, only scoring five points across the group phase and classification round, and finished last of 12 teams.

The Emirati team took part in seven editions of the Asian Series between 2012 and 2022, and their best finish in that period was third in 2022. Their campaign included a run to the final on home soil at the final leg of the series, which saw them beaten 21-5 by the Hong Kong, China team that won the overall title. They also made it to the semifinals at the Thailand leg of the 2022 series, losing to Japan before a third place play-off defeat to the Republic of Korea.

The team competed at a number of World Series legs between the 1999/00 and 2011/12 seasons, most often at their home tournament in Dubai.
