Team Overview

General
The People's Republic of China won the first two all-around team competitions at the Asian Games, in 1998 and 2002. They slipped to the bronze medal position in 2006 and were ranked fifth in 2010, 2014, and 2018.

The Chinese team made their fifth appearance at the Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020, where they finished just outside of the medal positions in fourth place. They claimed silver at the 2008 Games in Beijing, which is their only Olympic podium finish.

The People's Republic of China competed in the group all-around at the world championships for the first time in 1987, winning bronze on their debut in Varna, Bulgaria. Although they competed at the tournament regularly through the 2000s, they did not win their second world championship medal - a silver - until 2023 in Valencia.
