Team Overview

General
India won back-to-back gold medals at the first two women's kabaddi tournaments at the Asian Games. The team went undefeated throughout 2010 and 2014, claiming the title in finals against Thailand and the Islamic Republic of Iran, respectively.

India's dominance over the women's kabaddi competition ended at the 2018 Games in Indonesia. Their tournament began in familiar fashion, with the team posting group stage victories over Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Japan before overcoming Chinese Taipei 27-14 in the semifinals. However, their unbeaten record at the Asian Games came to an end in the gold medal match as they lost to the Islamic Republic of Iran, surrendering their title in a tight final, 27-24.

The Indians are also the leading team at the South Asian Games, claiming all four titles on offer between 2006 and 2019.
