An anterior tibiofibular ligament injury in his right ankle caused him to withdraw from the 2022 All Japan Championships. He returned to competitive action in October the same year. (nikkei, 31 Mar 2022; nhk, 30 Oct 2022)
In December 2019 he underwent right knee surgery and was sidelined for around two months. In December 2020 he suffered from joint effusion [accumulation of fluid] and joint inflammation in his right knee, so was unable to compete at the 2020 All Japan Championships.
