She injured the lateral collateral ligament [LCL] in her right knee during her first bout at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where she eventually won gold. She wanted to lose weight, and initially went to a boxing gym. However, she was encouraged to get involved in ju-jitsu by a boxing coach who also coached ju-jitsu. Milestones

She became the first ju-jitsu athlete representing the Republic of Korea to win a gold medal at the Asian Games when she was victorious in the women's ne-waza -62kg category at the 2018 Games in Indonesia.
