He was sport director for the Israeli men's national handball setup [including youth teams] from 2018 to 2022, and he has also worked as head coach of the Portugal men's national team. Between 2005 and 2012 he coached the Portuguese U20 and U21 men's national teams. He was head coach of men's club teams AA Aguas Santas [2017-2018], Desportivo Francisco Holanda [2001-2005], and CCD Macieira [1998-2001] in Portugal. Between 1988 and 1997 he had coaching roles with Portuguese clubs SC Salgueiros, FC Porto, and Boavista FC.
