TOKYO MEDAL HEARTACHE
She was left disappointed after narrowly missing out on a medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She was in the silver medal position heading into the final round before ultimately finishing the tournament one shot behind the medallists in fourth place. "This is probably the most disheartened I have ever been after finishing fourth in a golf tournament. I tried my best till the very end but golf is like that sometimes. You don't always get what you deserve, but you do get what you work for. I am going to work hard for 2024 [the Olympic Games in Paris]. I'm already a better player this Tokyo Olympics than I was at Rio [2016] so I'm sure I am going to be a better player when I am going to Paris." RIO IMPACT
In 2016 she became the first female golfer to represent India at the Olympic Games. "I read somewhere that the Google searches for golf from India were huge after that. Just seeing the impact it had and the exposure it got at the time was a big deal for me. Cricket is our [India's] sport. We are a cricket-crazy country. After that, the Olympics are most important. A lot of people who didn't know anything about golf watched the Olympics. Ever since, I get little girls running up to me saying, 'She played in the Olympics. I want to be just like her'. It's inspiring. It was the whole idea behind getting golf in the Olympics. In India, they write about me now even in random LET [Ladies European Tour] events. I'm 'the girl who was leading in the Olympics'. I wish I would have finished better in the [2016] Olympics, but it was a great experience."
