Team Overview

General
Bahrain have been represented in the men's football tournament at the Asian Games on eight occasions, making their debut in 1974.

At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, the team secured a spot in the knockout stage of the competition for the first time since 2002. Their record of one win, one draw, and one loss was enough to see them advance from the group stage as one of the best third-placed teams. They then exited the competition at the round of 16 following a 1-0 loss to Vietnam.

Bahrain's only other experience of the knockout rounds came in 2002, when they recorded victories over Palestine and Uzbekistan to advance from their group. They were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage after suffering a 1-0 defeat to hosts the Republic of Korea.

The team competed at the AFC U23 championship for the first time in 2020 in Thailand, and were eliminated at the group stage following two draws and one loss.
