The People's Republic of China's women's epee team won five gold medals at the Asian Games between 1990 and 2018. They are the reigning Asian Games champions, having beaten the Republic of Korean 29-28 in the final at Indonesia 2018. The Chinese and Korean teams also contested the final at Incheon 2014, with the Chinese running out 43-19 winners.

The People's Republic of China have competed at five of the six Olympic Games in which women's team epee has been contested. Their tally of three total medals at the Games is second only to the Russian Federation's haul of four. The Chinese team claimed gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, defeating Germany, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Korea in the knockout rounds to secure the title. They reached the final again four years later in Rio de Janeiro but fell short of retaining their title as they lost 44-38 to Romania. Their other Olympic medal, a bronze, was won on debut in Sydney in 2000.

The Chinese team have also been consistent medallists at the world championships. They reached the podium at six out of the seven editions of the tournament between 2011 and 2019 [two gold, three silver, one bronze], and were also world champions in 2006. Their most recent performances have not been as strong though, with the team placing 13th in 2022 and 12th in 2023.

At the Asian championships, the team have secured 12 gold medals since 2003. They claimed bronze at the 2023 edition of the tournament in Wuxi.
