Her father originally enrolled her and her sister Aarya in the Junior Soccer School and League [JSSL] football academy in Singapore. However, Amita's school did not offer football as an activity, so she switched to fencing. "It was just by chance because I was playing soccer before fencing and I went to RGPS [Raffles Girls' Primary School] where soccer wasn't offered as a CCA [co-curricular activity]. So I had to find another one. It's such a fun sport. There obviously are rules, but you can make up your own actions.
