She began competing when she was in junior high. "When I joined the junior national team programme, I trained in BMX, cross-country, and road racing. Now [speaking in 2022] I'm focusing on road and track." (Indonesian Cycling Federation YouTube channel, 21 Aug 2022)

"At the beginning, I never thought of becoming an athlete. But I think it's because of my grandfather. He was an athlete, and then became a coach. He used to take me when he coached these clubs [in Bandung, Indonesia]. It was an after-school activity for me. Then he asked me to compete in a provincial level event. I hesitated because I didn't like the outfit, it looked too tight. And it was an outdoor sport, I didn't like the heat. My mother told me, 'It will be fine as long as you achieve'. So then I started at the national championships, this was before that provincial event and I finished fifth. My grandfather told me, 'See? I knew you could do it'. That's how it started."
