He participated in charity cycling events at his middle school but his passion for cycling was not high. However, he sustained an ankle sprain while playing football and was unable to do other exercises besides cycling. His teacher introduced him to cyclist Choi Heng Wa, who encouraged him to take up some lower level competitions. "At the time [of injury], I had a bicycle at home and felt that I had to exercise as a young person so I started to ride. It didn't hurt [the ankle] and I liked it instantly. Then my teacher told me that there is a good cyclist in a different class and encouraged me to asked him how to practice better. That's how I met [Choi Heng Wa]." (macausports, 09 Jan 2021)
