He was motivated to gain success in sport in order to help his family. "It's every son's dream to make his parents proud but it never crossed my mind the activity I chose would be the one. Actually, I just joined my close friends in cycling when I was 16. We knew nothing about the art of racing and had no bicycle, no helmet, no shoes, nothing at all.
