Team Overview

General
Malaysia competed at the two previous editions of the Asian Games to have featured women's cricket. They lost both of their pool matches at the 2010 Games in Guangzhou and were ranked joint-last of the eight teams that took part. They were also unable to secure a win four years later in Incheon, suffering defeat to Thailand and Nepal in Group D and again finishing joint-bottom of the final standings.

The team appeared at the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup in 2018 and 2022, losing all 11 matches they played across the two tournaments. They finished as runners-up when they hosted the 2022 ACC Women's T20 Championship after a five-wicket defeat to the United Arab Emirates in the final.

The Malaysian team won a bronze medal at the 2017 South East Asian Games, which they hosted in Kuala Lumpur. In a four-team tournament, they defeated Singapore and then lost to Thailand and Indonesia in the round-robin. That qualified them for the third-place match, where they beat the Singaporeans for a second time to secure their place on the podium.
