Team Overview

General
Bangladesh won gold at the inaugural cricket tournament at the Asian Games, defeating Afghanistan by five wickets in the final at the 2010 Games in Guangzhou. Four years later in Incheon, the Bangladesh team beat Kuwait by 203 runs in the quarterfinals to set up a semifinal with Sri Lanka. Bangladesh batted first but rain stopped play after 11 overs and meant the match had to be decided by a coin toss, which was won by the Sri Lankans. The Bangladeshis then faced Hong Kong, China in the bronze medal match and put their disappointment behind them to win by 27 runs and secure a place on the podium.

Bangladesh have competed at all eight editions of the T20 World Cup, recording their best performance in 2007 in South Africa where they reached the Super 8s stage. At the 2022 T20 World Cup they won two matches and lost three at the Super 12 stage and did not reach the knockout rounds.

The team were eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 Asia Cup, losing to Afghanistan and eventual champions Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh won gold at the South Asian Games in both 2010 and 2019. They were represented by an U21 side in 2010 and by an U23 side in 2019.
