She took up canoeing eight months prior to the 2015 South East Asian Games, where she went on to win a silver medal. "I started rowing when I was 11 years old. At first, I started rowing a longboat. It was a long dragon boat with 10 rowers. After a while, I tried to go on a longboat with five rowers, this is a wooden boat. A traditional boat." (today.line.me, 21 Jul 2021)
:
She used to paddle with her friends and cousins on a canal near her house and then joined longboat training at school. "I just grabbed the paddle and liked it. As a child, I didn't like being at home. When I stayed at home, my parents would always give us chores. So, when I was invited to join the school's longboat club, I got the opportunity to ride a longboat for 10 people and practise after school every day. I just thought it would be fun."
