He says the medals won by the Indian team in bridge's first appearance at the Asian Games in 2018 were important in bringing greater awareness of the sport to India. "In my book, there have been better performances worldwide in bridge for India. However, being part of a multi-discipline event has brought bridge into the limelight, brought it to the fore. I was talking for example to [Indian wrestler] Vinesh Phogat, and she said, 'I had never heard about bridge, and I didn't know what it was all about until we saw the medals you won'. People in other disciplines don't really know what it's about, but this [the Asian Games] has brought about a new awareness." (The Quint YouTube channel, 08 Sep 2018)
