Team Overview

General
Chinese Taipei have competed for a medal at every Asian Games since 1990, winning bronze in 1990 and 2002 and securing their best result, a silver medal, in 2006. The team progressed to the final in Doha undefeated but lost 90-59 to the People's Republic of China in the gold medal match.

Chinese Taipei faced Japan in the bronze medal match at the Asian Games in 2010, 2014, and 2018, but lost on all three occasions. In Indonesia, they missed out on the podium after Japan won the bronze medal match 76-63.

At the Asia Cup, the team finished in the top four on all 21 of their appearances at the competition between 1965 and 2015, with one runners-up finish in 1972. They have been less successful at recent editions of the tournament, however. At the 2023 Asia Cup in Australia they lost all three of their group games and were then beaten in the seventh place play-off by Lebanon. The team's eighth-place finish represented their lowest ever ranking at the tournament.

Chinese Taipei have competed at the world championship [now the World Cup] four times, with each appearance coming between 1986 and 2006.
