Team Overview

General
Kazakhstan's only podium finish at the Asian Games came in 2002, when they claimed bronze in Busan. Since their debut in 1994 they have contested the bronze medal match three times, facing the Philippines in both 1998 and 2002, while they lost the 2014 third place play-off 76-72 to Japan.

At the 2018 Games in Indonesia, their opening game ended in a 96-59 defeat to the Philippines and was followed by another loss to the People's Republic of China [83-66], who went on to win the gold medal. The Kazakhstani team did not progress beyond the group stage and ranked 11th overall.

At the Asia Cup, Kazakhstan's fourth-place finish in 2007 was the only occasion they reached the semifinals in 10 appearances between 1995 and 2022. At the 2022 edition of the tournament in Indonesia, they lost their three group stage matches to Japan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Syrian Arab Republic.

Kazakhstan have never featured at the World Cup or the Olympic Games.
