She played basketball while she was at primary school, but would always finish first in the distance running competitions. She wanted to continue playing basketball after starting middle school, but she was encouraged to join the athletics team by a coach. Her parents also supported her getting involved in athletics as it is an individual sport. "There were five people in the basketball team so I thought that I might not get a chance to play."
