Additional Information

General
APPEAL LEADS TO GOLD
He was initially judged to have finished second in the men's 110m hurdles final at the 2023 South East Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, but he was promoted to the joint-gold medal position after Singapore Athletics lodged a protest and took the case to an independent jury. "When I crossed the line, I knew it was down to the thousandths. I knew I was either first or second. To me, I knew it was a fast time. I knew the execution was great. I was already very happy. I'll take that. For me and my coach, we always think about it in terms of the race execution technique. With good technique, comes good times, and with good times come good positions and medals." (activesgcircle, 10 May 2023; channelnewsasia, 10 May 2023)

GAP YEAR
He delayed his final year of studies at the National University of Singapore in order to train full-time and prepare for the 2017 South East Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. "Training in the evenings when I am already mentally and physically exhausted is suboptimal. Taking a gap year has allowed me to train with a fresh mind and body, which has definitely led to higher quality sessions." (secondwindnation, 30 Oct 2017; todayonline, 12 Jun 2017; todayonline, 11 Oct 2016)

COACHING
He has worked as a coach at Ang's Academy in Singapore alongside his brother Ding Hui. (Ang's Academy Facebook page, 24 May 2018; Ang's Academy Instagram profile, 17 May 2018)
