Team Overview

General
Kazakhstan have competed at every Asian Games since 1994, winning bronze on their Games debut in 1994 and again in 2002 in Busan. They have not made it as far as the semifinals at the last four editions of the Games, however. At Indonesia 2018, they beat the Democratic People's Republic of Korea 5-3 in the round of 16 but lost by the same scoreline to Mongolia in the quarterfinals.

The Kazakhstani team came close to a podium finish at the 2021 Asian Championships in Dhaka, but lost to the Republic of Korea in the semifinals and hosts Bangladesh in the bronze medal match. Their most recent medal at the Asian championships [bronze] came in 2011.

Kazakhstan's appearance at the 2020 Olympic Games was their first Olympic participation since Sydney 2000. In Tokyo they were beaten 6-2 by India in the first knockout round. At the world championships, quarterfinal appearances in 2019 and 2017 represent their best performances.
