NOC Overview
Bangladesh has competed at each edition of the Asian Games since the NOC made its debut in 1978. Athletes representing Bangladesh have won medals in boxing, kabaddi, and cricket, with the men's cricket team claiming the NOC's sole gold medal at the Asian Games in 2010 in Guangzhou.
Boxer Mosharraf Hossain is the only athlete to have won a medal for Bangladesh in an individual sport at the Asian Games. His bronze in the men's light heavyweight category in 1986 in Seoul was also the NOC's first podium finish in any sport at the Games. Kabaddi has yielded the most medals for Bangladesh, with the men's team making the podium at five consecutive editions between 1990 and 2006 and the women's team claiming bronze in both 2010 and 2014. The women's cricket team became the first female Bangladeshi athletes to win an Asian Games medal with silver in Guangzhou in 2010.
Bangladesh secured multiple medals at a single edition of the Asian Games for the first time in 2010, and matched that total four years later in Incheon. However, Bangladesh did not win any medals at the 2018 Games, with the men's kabbadi [equal fifth] and hockey [sixth] teams among the NOC's best results in team sports in Indonesia, while archer Ruman Shana finished equal ninth in the men's recurve individual event competing against a field of 79 competitors.
