Beijing, China: With 249 days to go to the opening ceremony of the 22nd Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, next February, a working conference was held at the Capital Gymnasium in Beijing on Monday, June 3, to discuss China's preparations for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Attending the meeting were Liu Peng, Sports Minister and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Xiao Tian and Cai Zhenhua, Deputy Sports Ministers, and Zhao Yinggang, Director of the National Winter Sports Administrative Centre.
The conference also involved officials, coaches and members of different national winter Olympic sports teams, including Li Yan, head coach of the national short-track speed skating team, and Zhao Hongbo, the newly-appointed coach of the national figure skating team.
At the last Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, China made a major historic breakthrough by bagging 11 medals, including 5 golds, to place seventh in the gold medal standings.
