Taipei: The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee is sad to announce the loss of Olympic Order recipient Prof. Ming-Hsin Tang, a former Secretary General of the CTOC, who passed away in the early hours of March 17 due to heart failure at his Los Angeles home.
Born in 1928, Prof. Tang had a distinguished career as a sports administrator and a pioneer Olympism educator, with numerous publications on Olympic history and the Olympic Movement.
Prof. Tang started his career as a Physical Education teacher and basketball coach in various academic institutions. He became a faithful advocate of the Olympic Education and Olympic Movement.
He initiated the first session of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Academy in 1978 and the publication of the Olympic Quarterly in the 1980s. He was a Director, Deputy Secretary General, Secretary General (1998-2000), then Commission Chairman (2000-2013) of the CTOC during his 40 years’ service in the NOC.
He was awarded the Olympic Order by former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch in 1993 for his immense contribution to the Olympic family.
The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee grieves over this grave loss and has conveyed deep condolences to the family of Prof. Tang.
